The Friendship Circle Baseball Game
The Friendship Circle is today's fastest growing Jewish organization for children with special needs. With over 79 locations worldwide the Friendship Circle has cultivated friendships between 5,000 special children and close to 11,000 teen volunteers. I had the privilege of joining The Friendship Circle in one of their baseball games in the center of Jerusalem. At the event I was put in charge of all the special needs kids and connecting them with a buddy and creating a comfortable/fun interaction between the two. At the baseball game there were about 20 special needs kids all so happy to be part of the event.
Buddy Baseball matches ‘buddies’ with special-needs children to provide a memorable experience for all. A non-competitive, friendship-building baseball league, Buddy Baseball provides an opportunity to build self-esteem and create warm, lasting memories on the baseball field. Partnering special needs players with buddy volunteers gives children who may have never played sports with a friend, the chance to experience teamwork, camaraderie and the magic of excelling in a sport. Friendship Circle of Central Jerusalem is a one-stop portal into the world of children with special needs, pairing them with devoted volunteers who become friends and family.
