Ein Gedi, Dead Sea, and Masada
I was able to spend my second Shabbat at Masada. On Friday morning I completed a six mile hike of En Gendi where we luckily were able to find springs to cool off in the hundred and one degree weather. Following the long hike I got to relax in the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea absolutely does wonders for your skin. My friends and I then went to our hotel which was directly underneath Masada. You could not have asked for a more spectacular view. That night were services with the view of Masada. At 4:30 a.m. the next morning my alarm went off. At 5:00 a.m. I was on my up Masada for the sunrise hike. I can not think of a more meaningful way to spend Shabbat than by watching the sunrise on top of Masada. After climbing down I of course took a nice long four hour nap before spending the rest of the day laying by the pool talking with friends and reading. Later that day was a service to end Shabbat before heading home. Shabbat #2 - Success.
