Save a Child's Heart
Save a Child's Heart (SACH) is one of the largest undertakings in the world, providing urgently needed pediatric heart surgery and follow-up care for indigent children from developing countries. Based in Israel, our mission is to improve the quality of pediatric cardiac care for children from countries where the heart surgery they need is unobtainable. I had the privilege of planning their Hanukkah party. I had to create activities, and games for children who didn't speak either hebrew or english between the ages of 1-12. I along with a group of other volunteers spent the afternoon with kids from all over Africa and the middle east who were either pre-surgery or post-surgery. Afterwards, I went to the blind museum. The exhibition is called 'Dialogue in the Dark' and it is a fascinating social, moral and emotional journey, which has the ability to enhance social creativity and communication skill. You are led by a blind leader through everyday tasks while in a pitch black setting with nothing but sounds and a walking stick.
