The High Holidays in the Holy City
I consider myself so lucky to be able to spend the High Holidays - Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) in the Holy City of Jerusalem.
Rosh Hashanah - The first night I was able to join a family friend for dinner, it was personal and all about family and the meaning of the holiday. The next day I spent in the old city visiting the Kotel where I say people from all of the world, people of all different forms of Judaism praying for this upcoming year. Later that night I went to Pamela Clamans house and had dinner overlooking the Western Wall. The next day I went to a more Orthodox Shool where I found it most interesting to listen to peoples interpretation of the holiday - all such lovely thoughts.
September 21 - Viewed a Hebrew Play about the meaning of Yom Kippur on top of the Aish building (with the most beautiful view of the Kotel) before the viewing of the slichos on the roof. "Slichos" happens the nights leading up to Yom Kippur where thousands of people from all over the world, as all forms of Judaism come to say sorry, sorry for anything from the past year.
